The third match of the IPL 2020 season promises to be equally thrilling as the first two matches as two strong teams — Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Royal Challengers Bangalore — take each other on at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday. The Sunrisers have been one of the most consistent teams in the recent history of the IPL having qualified for the playoffs in each of the editions since 2016.
They had won the title that year and the team they faced in the final was RCB. The Bangalore-based franchise hasn’t had the best of times in the tournament since then, though. They have been one of the bottom dwellers the table since 2017 and finished last in the last season as well. But they bolstered their squad with some really good additions like Aaron Finch and Chris Morris in the auctions last year and thus they look like one of the contenders to make it to the playoffs this year.
Team News and Probable Starting XI
The Sunrisers look almost certain to hand debut to at least one of Virat Singh or Abdul Samad. Both of the youngsters impressed in the last domestic season and will be eager to make their opportunities count this season. Mohammad Nabi has more chances of playing regularly this year than Kane Williamson due to his all-round abilities. The one uncertain spot in their XI is probably that of the third seamer which might either go to Sandeep Sharma or Siddharth Kaul.
RCB, on the other hand, are likely to go with the overseas contingent of Aaron Finch, AB de Villiers, Chris Morris and Dale Steyn in this match. Moeen Ali could have really bolstered RCB’s middle-order but the help that the seamers got in the first two matches might lure RCB to play a seamer in Steyn instead of Ali. Whether Devdutt Padikkal makes his debut or not will depend on who keeps wickets. If de Villiers does, Padikkal can slot in to the top of the order. If he doesn’t, Parthiv Patel will have to start as the Wicket-Keeper.
David Warner (C), Jonny Bairstow (WK), Manish Pandey, Virat Singh, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul/Sandeep Sharma
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal/Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Gurkeerat Singh, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Dale Steyn, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal
- David Warner and Virat Kohli have great batting records in SRH vs RCB clash. While Warner averages over 60, Kohli also has a good average of 40+.
- Chris Morris and Mohammad Nabi are going to be pretty reliable Picks due to their all-round ability.
- Rashid Khan and AB de Villiers do have a chance of scoring big in this match too.
