The first Test of the India-Bangladesh series was a closely contested match, with both sides battling hard for victory. After India won the toss and elected to bat first, they put on a strong performance with the bat, with Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara both scoring half-centuries in the first innings. Rishabh Pant also made a valuable contribution with a score of 46.

In the second innings, Pujara and opener Shubman Gill both scored centuries, taking India's total to a daunting 513 runs. Bangladesh faced a tough task in their chase for victory, and although Najmul Hossain Shanto and debutant Zakir Hasan put up a strong opening partnership, India's bowlers eventually managed to break through and wrap up the win on the fifth day of play.

Captain KL Rahul was pleased with the way his team fought for the victory, saying that they had to work hard for the result to come in their favour. He praised the batting performances of Iyer, Pujara, and Pant, as well as the efforts of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav with the ball.

The win was particularly significant for India, as it saw them climb to third place in the World Test Championship standings, with a win percentage of 55.77. They are now ahead of Sri Lanka and only behind Australia and South Africa in the rankings.

Overall, it was a strong performance by India in the first Test, with both the batting and bowling units contributing to the victory. The team will now look to build on this success in the remainder of the series and continue their climb up the World Test Championship standings.
