1st Women’s ODI, Pakistan v West Indies: Preview, Fantasy Tips, Likely XIs Image

The three-match ODI series between Pakistan Women and West Indies Women will begin on 8 November, at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The two sides played five ODIs in July, in West Indies. Pakistan lost the series after losing the first three matches, but finished on a high by winning the last two. West Indies also swept the T20Is 3-0.

That was Pakistan’s last international assignment. Barring Omaima Sohail, none of their batters looked at their best on that tour. Fatima Sana and Nida Dar bowled well, but failed to create many wicket-taking opportunities. Javeria Khan disappointed the most, and will be looking to regain form this time at her home soil.

In September, South Africa toured West Indies for three T20Is and five ODIs. The T20I series ended 1-1 after the first match was washed out, but first four ODIs were all one-sided affairs in favour of South Africa. The last game to the Super Over, where West Indies finally managed to edge past South Africa.

West Indies are buoyed by Stafanie Taylor’s return. Taylor missed the South Africa series after being identified as a primary contact of a Covid-19 positive case. Anisa Mohammed had led in her absence.

If West Indies look to start the series with a win, Deandra Dottin, Hayley Matthews and Shamilia Connell will have to play crucial roles. They are the more balanced of the two sides on paper, and should win this one comprehensively.
