Sri Lanka completed 2-0 sweep against Oman after beating them by five wickets in the second T20I at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground.
Chasing 160, Sri Lanka raced to 87/2 in 9.2 overs, courtesy a rousing start from Pathum Nissanka (26) and Dinesh Chandimal (18 in 8 balls). But they slipped to 89/5 in no time after Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka departed cheaply.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa (35* in 21) and Chamika Karunaratne (35* in 26) held the fort from there. They added an unbroken 74 for the sixth wicket to guide Sri Lanka reach the target with 15 balls to spare.
For Oman, Kaleemullah, Fayyaz Butt, Zeeshan Maqsood picked up a wicket each, while Mohammad Nadeem returned 2-22, which includes a maiden.
Earlier, Aqib Ilyas top-scored in Oman’s 159/8 after they were asked to bat. Ilyas struck four sixes and three fours in his 38-ball 60, but received little support. Kashyap Prajapati’s 19-ball 22 was the next best score.
With 4-1-20-2, Lahiru Kumara was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Karunaratne also took two wickets, but conceded 39. Maheesh Theekshana and Binura Fernando bowled tightly, claiming a wicket each.
