Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten 71 led South Africa romp to a nine-wicket win against West Indies in the second ODI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Earlier, Hayley Matthews, Kyshona Knight, and Deandra Dottin fell for single-digit scores after Anisa Mohammed won the toss and opted to bat. Marizanne Kapp (3-24) dismissed all of them, as West Indies were left reeling on 18/3 in 11.4 overs.

Chedean Nation and Kycia Knight revived West Indies from there. They added 31 in 40 balls before Sune Luus got both in the 20th and 22nd overs. Qiana Joseph (21) played aggressively in her 20-ball stay, but it came to an end when she nicked Ayabonga Khaka to Trisha Chetty in the 30th over.

Coming at No. 9, Anisa Mohammed (15* in 46 balls) was watchful, and remained till the end. But West Indies stumbled from 84/5 to 120 in 44.2 overs, courtesy van Niekerk (10-5-14-2) and Khaka (2-13).

Coming to the chase, South Africa lost Lizelle Lee, who made 91 not out in the series opener, to Matthews in the eighth over. Wolvaardt then anchored the innings, striking eight fours in her 84-ball 71 not out, to help South Africa reach the target in 26th over.

Lara Goodall (25* in 51) played second fiddle to Wolvaardt in their unbroken 86-run stand, as they went 2-0 up in the five-match series with nine wickets in hand.
