The IPL 2020 auctions are here and we have franchises sorting, planning, scouting and chalking out their best-laid plans in order to find a stable line-up. A lot of teams have their first team sheet ready while some others – after a few releases – have money and slots left. The Mzansi Super League in South Africa is one foreign league that has flown under the radar a bit but with several South Africans in the auction pool, we take a look at some from the MSL who could be in for a big payday.

Reeza Hendricks

Matches – 7, Runs – 275, Avg – 39.29, 50s – 3

The South African T20I and the limited-overs opener is a rather understated name in International cricket right now. With a healthy strike rate and good consistency, Hendricks has been amongst the lesser sought after South African cricketers in the IPL despite his impressive numbers at the domestic level. That said, after a sensational opening season last year in the MSL with the Jozi Stars and superb performance in MSL 2019, Reeza could he in for a big haul this time around.

Franchises that could be interested in him: Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad

Dale Steyn

Matches – 8, Wickets – 15, Avg – 15.13, Eco – 7.09

His fitness levels are a major concern alright and last year Steyn had to withdraw from the Royal Challengers Bangalore side following an injury. He has, however, improved on his fitness this time around and has been bowling at full tilt in the MSL. The pacer is the second-highest wicket-taker in this season in the South African T20 League with 15 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 15.13. More importantly, Steyn seems to be fit and raring to go in this format.

Franchises that could be interested in him: Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab

Tabraiz Shamsi

Matches – 9, Wickets – 14, Avg – 17.21, Eco – 7.09

Who can forget his incredible celebration in the Mzansi Super League? With a slew of magic tricks, chinaman spinner Tabraiz Shamsi or the Masked Magician, might be in for a major payday at the IPL auctions this time around. He has been a part of the league before but hasn’t had much of a chance to impress. After a stupendous showing in this year’s MSL, Shamsi could well be celebrating on December 19 with a fat paycheque.
