30K spectators per day allowed at MCG for AUS vs IND Boxing Day Test Image

A total of 30,000 spectators will be allowed each day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the second Test of the upcoming four-match series between Australia and India to be played from December 26 to 30.

“We’re so excited to be able to welcome so many fans to the MCG in what’s been such a challenging year for Victorians,” Cricket Australia announced the same via Twitter.

Earlier, the board had put a cap of 25,000 fans per day of the Boxing Day Test amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The limited-overs leg of India’s tour to Australia was played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Brisbane’s Manuka Oval with 50 percent of the crowd allowed inside the stadium.

Adelaide Oval which will host the first of the four-Test matches will be hosting 27,000 spectators each day during the day-night Test match.

The first Test will begin from December 17 and will also be the last of Indian captain Virat Kohli in this tour as he will return back to India for the birth of his first child post the match at Adelaide.

The final two Test matches will be played at the SCG and Brisbane’s Gabba with 50 percent and 75 percent fans allowed respectively.
