England Women will look to seal the five-match series by beating New Zealand Women on 21 September, in the third ODI at the Grace Road, Leicester. England have already won the T20I series 2-1 last week and now on the verge of yet another series triumph.
England rode on two sublime knocks to register wins in the opening two ODIs. Heather Knight scored 89 off 107 balls in the first, which, followed by a collective bowling performance, helped England win the first match by 30 runs. Nat Sciver took 2-10 in five overs, while Katherine Brunt started with four maiden overs.
The next match was rain-affected. Danni Wyatt, batting at No. 7, made an unbeaten 72-ball 63 to take England to 197 in 43.3 overs. Suzie Bates, Lauren Down, Brooke Halliday, and Sophie Devine then failed to convert their starts into anything substantial. They were bowled out for 169 in 39 overs.
New Zealand bowlers, led by Leigh Kasperek, impressed more than their batters. If they manage to pull one back, their batters need to step up now. While England are unlikely to flirt with their winning combination, New Zealand may make one change, bringing in Hayley Jensen in place of Brooke Halliday.
