Abid Ali was rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pain while batting in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He has been diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome, and is currently stable.

'He was taken immediately to a cardiac hospital where he was diagnosed as a case of acute coronary syndrome. He is under the care of the consultant cardiologist who is liaising with the PCB medical team regarding further treatment,' said the PCB.

Abid was batting on 61 on the final day of a match between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa eventually won the match by 244 runs.

With 263 runs at 87.67, Abid was the leading run-getter in the recently concluded two-match series versus Bangladesh. He is also the third-highest scorer in the current cycle of the World Test Championship.

In 2016, England's James Taylor retired from cricket after being diagnosed with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
