The New York Strikers, a team in the Abu Dhabi T10 league, have been acquired by the USA's Skky Strikers, who made the announcement on Monday.
As the team mentor, the mysterious left-hander Yuvraj Singh has been appointed. In 2019, he was a member of the Abu Dhabi T10 league. In addition to signing Eoin Morgan, the captain of England who won the 2019 ODI World Cup, as their Platinum player, the team also signed Kieron Pollard as their Icon player. The franchise has signed two Category A players, namely Azam Khan from Pakistan and Paul Stirling from Ireland.
With the inclusion of the New York Strikers, the tournament expands to eight teams, with two new American teams joining the fray. The Strikers franchise has enjoyed success as a cricket franchise in the USA and aspires to grow internationally by playing in renowned leagues like the Abu Dhabi T10.
Sagar Khanna, the owner of the Strikers franchise, expressed his joy at joining the Abu Dhabi T10 "For our franchise, this is a very exciting time because the Abu Dhabi T10 is special and fiercely competitive, attracting top athletes from all over the world. It provides us with the ideal chance to test ourselves against cricket's best players."
"We have had some success in the USA, and we want to continue in the same way here. As a franchise, we'll go above and beyond to make sure that our supporters and the entire family have a fantastic tournament."
Upon discussing the additions, Sagar stated: "Eoin Morgan and Kieron Pollard are two of the most well-known figures in white-ball cricket. Both are incredibly dangerous athletes, and we have no doubt that our camp will benefit greatly from their leadership abilities in the future. We appreciate the idea that Pollard and Morgan both inspire dread in the minds of the opposing team."
"Azam Khan and Paul Stirling are two incredibly destructive batters who may quickly change the course of a game. The four players symbolise a solid and dedicated core, which is quite similar to our attitude."
International cricket stars will compete in the two-week Abu Dhabi T10, which begins on November 23. The competition will feature a quick and thrilling 10-over format.
The New York Strikers, the second American team competing in the Abu Dhabi T10, will serve as a showcase for the rising calibre of cricket played in the United States.
