Asia XI: Virat Kohli likely to feature in one game

Virat Kohli might represent Asia XI in one match according to the reports. Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the tentative squads for Asia XI and World XI who would have two face-offs on March 18 and 21 in Dhaka. The president of the board Nazmul Hassan said, “We have already received four names from India. We haven’t signed contracts but Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan and Mohammed Shami are supposed to come. They have said KL Rahul and Virat Kohli will play one game each, but that hasn’t been finalised.

IANS had earlier informed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly had sent the names of Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Shikhar Dhawan and Kuldeep Yadav to the BCB for the two matches. The Asia XI squad has now six Indian players including Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.

Virat Kohli is yet to confirm his association because of his busy schedule. India’s second Test against New Zealand will end on March 4, and their three-match home ODI series against South Africa will end on March 18. On the other hand, the IPL is scheduled to begin from March 29.

Pakistan players will be missing these games because of their Pakistan Super League assignment. According to a PCB spokesperson, “The T20Is between World XI and Asia XI were scheduled from March 16-20, while the PSL 2020 is likely to end on March 22. Since dates of both the series couldn’t be changed, we offered our regrets to the BCB, both verbally and in writing, which they understood and accepted,” a PCB spokesperson said. The BCB president echoed the same.

Asia XI: KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mahmudullah
