Australia finally got the better of India on the third attempt in this series as they registered a thrilling 12-run win over India in the final match of the T20I leg on Tuesday. It was Matthew Wade’s fifty that set the platform for Australia and Mitchell Swepson did the job with the ball, having registered figures of 3/23 in his four overs. Here, we’ll take a look at the key numbers from the match.

  • Virat Kohli registered his seventh T20I fifty against Australia today. That is the most by any batsman against an opposition in this format.
  • Matthew Wade registered his third T20I fifty today and all of them have come against India. His total of three fifties is also the joint-most by a Wicket-Keeper in T20Is against India. Quinton de Kock, Brendon McCullum, Kumar Sangakkara, and Tim Seifert are the other players with this record to their name.
  • Aaron Finch registered his third duck in T20Is against India, the most by an Australian batsman in an India-Australia T20I contest.
  • India’s win streak of 10 consecutive wins finally came to an end with the loss today. That also ended their unbeaten run in overseas T20Is.
  • With his knock of 85 today, Virat Kohli became the fastest visiting batsman to the landmark of 3000 international runs in Australia.
  • T Natarajan finished the series as the highest wicket-taker. He registered six wickets in the three matches at an excellent strike-rate and economy rate of 12.0 and 6.91 respectively.
  • KL Rahul was dismissed for a duck today and it was only the second one of his T20I career. His last duck came on his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in Harare, in 2016. This was also his first dismissal for a single-digit score in 25 innings. The last one came against England in Cardiff in July 2018.
