Former Australian cricketer, coach, and commentator, Dean Jones at the age of 59 has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Jones was part of Star Sports commentary team and was in a bio-secure bubble in a seven-star hotel in Mumbai.

An active cricket analyst, Jones was in Mumbai along with the Star Sports team to do off-tube commentary on IPL 2020 currently underway in the UAE.
Born in Melbourne, Dean Jones played 52 Test matches for Australia, scoring 3631 runs at an average of 46.55. Jones also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs with the help of seven centuries and 46 fifties. He scored 11 centuries, and with 216 as his highest test score, he was an important member of Allan Border’s team.

Apart from his career as a cricketer and brief stints as head coach, Jones made a name as a broadcaster as well. He was a popular figure in the Indian media. His show ‘Prof Deano’ was extremely popular on NDTV. Jones worked as a commentator on various leagues across the world known for his forthright views.
