Bangladesh have stuck with their current template from the last few home series as they announced a 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup. There was no place for Rubel Hossain, but he has been added to the reserves.

Tamim Iqbal has already withdrawn his name. If not for Tamim’s withdrawal, Soumya Sarkar might not have made it. Sarkar played all five matches against Australia but lost his place to Liton Das in the New Zealand series.

The team has an excellent blend of youth and experience. The likes of Afif Hossain and Shamim Hossain have been included. Afif impressed everyone with his hitting prowess in the T20I series against Australia.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Nurul Hasan are two wicketkeepers. However, Mushfiqur has stated that he does not want to keep wickets in T20Is.

Bangladesh will take on Scotland in their opening fixture of the T20 World Cup, on 17 October. They are placed in Group B, with Oman and Papua New Guinea.

Squad: Mahmudullah (c), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Kumar Das, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Naim, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed.
