Bangladesh vs Australia, T20Is: Players rating for Hosts Image

Bangladesh thumped Australia in the last T20I to skittle them out for their lowest ever T20I total, of 62, to claim the series 4-1. The Bangladesh bowlers – Nasum Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman – did well as an unit throughout the series. Let us take a look at how each of them fared in the series.

Shakib Al Hasan 9.5 (M 5, R 114, SR 101, W 7, Ec 6.45)

An outstanding series for Shakib with both bat and ball. His 33-ball 36 and 17-ball 26 helped Bangladesh win the first two T20Is. He conceded 50 runs in the fourth game, but made a terrific comeback in the fifth, picking up four wickets.

Nasum Ahmed 9 (M 5, W 8, Econ 5.11)

The leading wicket-taker of the series, Nasum claimed four wickets to help Bangladesh defend a paltry 131 in the first T20I. Wicketless but economical in the second game, he added four more wickets in the next three games.

Mustafizur Rahman 9 (M5, W 7, Econ 3.52)

The Fizz is back! An economy rate of 3.52 illustrates how efficient he was throughout the series. He picked up 3-23 to restrict Australia to 121/7 in the second T20I. In the third, he gave away just nine runs from his four overs.

Shoriful Islam 8 (M 4, W 7, Econ. 6.38)

Shoriful picked up seven wickets in four games – including two in each of the first three – before being rested for the final T20I.

Mahedi Hasan 8 (M 5, R 72, SR 104, W 4, Econ 5.88)

Mahedi was economical throughout the series. He got a 16-ball 23 in the fourth match, and opened batting in the fifth.

Afif Hossain 7.5 (M 5, R 109, SR 122)

In a series where batters struggled to break free, Afif looked at ease with the conditions, often adding the finishing touch to sluggish starts. He struck at 122.

Mahmudullah 7 (M 5, R 91, Sr 97)

Mahmudullah’s 53-ball 52 – impressive, given the conditions – helped Bangladesh win the third T20I. Other than that, he managed just 39 runs across four games.

Mohammad Saifuddin 7 (M 1, W 3, Econ 4.00)

Saifuddin replaced Shoriful for the fifth game, and picked up three wickets.

Mohammad Naim 6.5 (M 5, R 91, SR 88)

Naim did not have a standout performance. With Soumya Sarkar misfiring at the other end, Naim did well on a couple of occasions to provide his team a measured start.

Nurul Hasan 4 (M 5, R 44, SR 100)

Nurul’s unbeaten 22 helped the hosts to sail past the target of 122 with ease. He added 56 with Afif for the sixth wicket after Bangladesh were reduced to 67/5.

Soumya Sarkar 4 (M 5, R 28, SR 56)

A terrible campaign for Sarkar, who got 2, 0, 2, 8 in the first four matches as an opener. He was demoted to No. 4 in the last game.

Shamim Hossain 2 (M 4, R 10, SR 59)

Shamim did not live up to expectations, amassing 10 runs in four games before losing his place in the last T20I.

Mosaddek Hossain 2 (M 1, R 4, SR 50)

Mosaddek scored an 8-ball 4 in the last T20I, his only appearance.
