Hasan Ali's 5-51, followed by an unbroken 145-run stand between Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique, gave Pakistan upper hand in the first Test match against Bangladesh. They still have a deficit of 185, but the Chattogram pitch has eased out considerably for the batters.

Resuming the day on 253/4, Bangladesh could only add 77 to their overnight total. Hasan Ali claimed four wickets on Day 2. He provided Pakistan with breakthrough, pinning Liton Das leg before for 114, and bowling Yasir Ali. Mushfiqur Rahim followed soon, caught behind for 91. Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 38, as Bangladesh finished on 330. Other than Hasan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Faheem Ashraf claimed two wickets each.

Abid and Shafique were not tested much by the bowlers. Abid struck nine fours and two sixes en route his 93 not out. Shafique, meanwhile, reached his first Test fifty with a six off Mominul Haque.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 330 (Liton Das 114; Hasan Ali 5-51) lead Pakistan 145/0 (Abid Ali 93*) by 185 runs.
