Sydney Sixers beat Sydney Thunder by 60 runs to register their eighth win of the Big Bash League 2021/22. They scored 197/5 before restricting the Thunders to 137/9. Steve O'Keefe was adjudged as Player of the Match for his 4-18.

The Sixers got off to a rollicking start, thanks to an 82-run stand between Josh Philippe (57 in 35 balls) and Daniel Hughes (66). Moises Henriques also made 47 runs.

The Thunder then lost three wickets inside the Powerplay. Barring Chris Green, who scored 50 in 31 balls, none of the batters made anything substantial. Other than O'Keefe (4-18), Ben Dwarshuis took two wickets.

A four-wicket haul from Henry Thornton helped Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Stars by 23 runs. The Strikers were restricted to 132/8 in the pursuit of 156. Hilton Cartwright top-scored with 49, but the remaining batters could not score more than 30. For the Strikers, Jonathan Wells struck 73 off 49 to take them to a competitive total.
