Sydney Sixers 144/9 in 20 overs (Henriques 73; Rogers 3-28) beat Hobart Hurricanes 130/8 in 20 overs (Handscomb 47; Curran 3-27) by 14 runs. Player of the Match: Moises Henriques.

Moises Henriques’ 48-ball 73, followed by disciplined bowling performance by the bowlers, helped Sydney Sixers beat Hobart Hurricanes by 14 runs in Match 4 of the Big Bash League 2021/22 in Launceston.

The Sixers were left reeling on 39/5 after being put in before Henriques Tom Curran (27) added 62 for the sixth wicket to steady the ship. They posted 144/9. Thomas Rogers was the pick of the Hurricanes bowler, with 3-28.

In reply, D'Arcy Short struggled to get going. He scored only 21 in 36 balls before Benjamin Manenti bowled him. Peter Handscomb (47) received little support as the Hurricanes closed on 130/8. Apart from Dan Christian, all five Sixers bowlers took at least a wicket.

Perth Scorchers v Brisbane Heat

Perth Scorchers 157/6 in 20 overs (Patterson 55; Gannon 2-32) beat Brisbane Heat 151 in 19.5 overs (Heazlett 34; Kelly 4-28) by 6 runs. Player of the Match: Matthew Kelly.

Matthew Kelly returned 4-28 to help Perth Scorchers beat Brisbane Heat by six runs in Match 5. They posted 157/6, courtesy Kurtis Patterson’s 30-ball 55 and bowled out the Heat for 151 in 19.5 overs.

Ashton Agar took 1-16 and Andrew Tye 2-32. Sam Heazlett and Xavier Bartlett made 34 each, while the latter remained unbeaten.
