Warwickshire took total control after Day 1 of the Bob Willis Trophy final as they dominated Lancashire control at Lord's. They bundled out Lancashire for just 78, and closed on 120/0, with a lead of 42 runs in the first innings.

Lancashire were left reeling on 12/6 inside the opening hour of play after they were asked to bat. They were just 13 runs short of their lowest-ever first-class score at that point, which came against Derbyshire back in 1871.

At No. 8, Luke Wood scored an unbeaten 46 to recover Lancashire from there, but did not receive support from the tail. Still, Lancashire managed to get past their lowest total at Lord’s – 49 against the MCC in 1880.

With 5-28, Craig Miles did the most damage for Warwickshire. He was ably assisted by Liam Norwell (2-9) and Manraj Johal (3-29).

Dom Sibley (49*) and Rob Yates (69*) then batted out the rest of the day to take Warwickshire to 120 with no harm before bad light forced early stumps.

Brief Scores: Lancashire 78 (Wood 46*; Miles 5-28) trail by Warwickshire 120/0 (Yates 69*) by 42 runs.
