The Colombo Strikers, set to make their debut in the upcoming Lanka Premier League, have announced a formidable line-up of icon players that includes Pakistan captain Babar Azam, fast bowler Naseem Shah, and Sri Lankan talents Matheesha Pathirana and Chamika Karunaratne.
The 20-year-old Pathirana has been making waves in T20 cricket with his exceptional performances, having claimed 22 wickets in 20 matches at an impressive average of 22.36. His explosive bowling skills make him a formidable asset to the team.
Joining Pathirana is the experienced bowling all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne, who is expected to play a pivotal role for the Colombo Strikers. With 60 wickets and 726 runs in 93 T20 matches, Karunaratne brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the squad.
The inclusion of Pakistan's superstar Babar Azam adds a touch of stardom to the Colombo franchise. Azam has amassed a staggering 9201 runs in 260 T20 matches, boasting an outstanding average of 44.02. His batting prowess and leadership skills will undoubtedly make him a key player for the Strikers.
Naseem Shah, the talented fast bowler, will spearhead the Strikers' bowling attack alongside Pathirana. Shah has impressed with his ability to take wickets consistently, claiming 73 scalps in 76 matches at an impressive average of 29.75.

In addition to the Colombo Strikers, the other four franchise teams have also secured international players for the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League, scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 20, 2023.
Dambulla Aura has signed Mathew Wade, Kusal Mendis, Lungi Ngidi, and Avishka Fernando, while Galle Gladiators will feature the services of Shakib Al Hasan, Dasun Shanaka, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
The Jaffna Kings have roped in David Miller, Thisara Perera, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Maheesh Theekshana, while the Kandy Falcons have secured the talents of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wanindu Hasaranga, Fakhar Zaman, and Angelo Mathews.
The stage is set for an exhilarating Lanka Premier League season as these star-studded line-ups promise thrilling cricket action and intense competition for the coveted title.
