Of three matches that are underway of the Group 1 of the County Championship 2021, rain washed out the entirety of Day 2 in a clash between Essex and Nottinghamshire.

Derbyshire v Warwickshire, Derby

Warwickshire 274 (Hain 77; Conners 4-46) and 132/7 (Hain 46; Cohen 3-26) lead Derbyshire 121 (Godleman 32; Miles 5-30, Norwell 4-24) by 287 runs

Eighteen wickets fell on Day 2 at Derby. Craig Miles’ dismissal off Michael Cohen early on Day 2 brought an end to Warwickshire’s innings. They got 274, courtesy fifties from Sam Hain (77) and Michael Burgess (71).

Warwickshire did not enforce the follow-on. Batting again, they lost their top three inside 20 runs. Hain (46) and Matthew Lamb (34) arrested the collapse before Burgess (28) chipped in with valuable runs as they finished the day on 132/7. They now have a lead of 285 runs.
