All six teams of Group 1 were in action in the sixth round of the County Championship 2021-22.

Derbyshire v Durham, Derby

Derbyshire 48/0 (Billy Godleman 24*) vs Durham

Only 17 overs of play was possible on Day 1 of the County Championship fixture between Derbyshire and Durham. Billy Godleman and Brooke Guest survived the testing conditions as Derbyshire saw off the day unscathed at 48.

For Durham, Mark Wood and Ben Raine were relentless in attack, making full use of the windy, overcast conditions. They were unlucky to go wicketless as the openers did just enough to hang in there.

Billy Stanlake has been ruled out for the entire season due to a stress fracture. He made his debut for Derbyshire last week, against Essex.

Essex v Warwickshire, Chelmsford

Warwickshire 159/7 (Bresnan 47*, Siddle 4-36) vs Essex

Peter Siddle returned impressive figures of 4-36 as Warwickshire staggered to 159/7 at the end of Day 1. Siddle provided his team with an early breakthrough, getting Warwicks skipper Will Rhodes caught for 10.

Dom Sibley scored 43 before getting dismissed by Sam Cook, while Robert Yates was bowled by Siddle for a duck. Sibley’s dismissal reduced Warwickshire to 56/4. Tim Bresnan and Michael Burgess then added 56 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter was bowled through the gates by Siddle.

Burgess fell for 35, while Bresnan is still batting on 47. Apart from Siddle, Cook took two wickets while Jamie Porter has one to his name.

Nottinghamshire v Worcestershire, Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire 51/3 (Hameed 24, Pennington 2-12) vs Worcestershire

Intermittent rain affected the proceeding in the County Championship fixture between Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire. Only 15.5 overs could be bowled. Ben Slater (15) and Haseeb Hameed (24) gave Notts a steady start and were looking good for more before the former fell prey to Dillon Pennington (2-12).

Joe Clark got out without opening his account as Nottinghamshire finished the day on 51/3.
