Here’s a short summary of all that transpired on Day 3 of the County Championship fixture Group 3.

Sussex v Glamorgan, Hove

Sussex 226 (Ibrahim 58; Van der Gugten 3-45) and 111/4 (Orr 54*; Van der Gugten 2-31) lead Glamorgan 215 (Lloyd 38; Carson 3-39) by 122 runs.

Glamorgan could only add 10 runs to their overnight tally to get skittled out for 215, and thus conceding a slender deficit of 11. Jack Carson picked up three wickets, while Mitchell Claydon, Stuart Meaker and Will Beer picked up two wickets apiece.

Sussex then got off to a terrible start, losing three wickets for just 19 runs. Alastair Orr stood firm, and forged crucial partnerships with Oliver Carter and Ben Brown as Sussex finished the day on 111/4. They have a lead of 122 runs now.

Lancashire v Kent, Old Trafford

Kent 74 (Stevens 19; Anderson 7-19) trail Lancashire 259/9 (Wood 63*; Quinn 3-37) by 185 runs.

Lancashire rode on a half-century from Luke Wood to finish the day on 259/9. Wood is still batting on 63, along with James Anderson, on 8.

Resuming on 108/5, Lancashire lost Steven Croft early in the innings. Wood then added 71 with and Rob Jones (47) and 50 with Tom Hartley (24). Matthew Quinn and James Logan picked up three wickets each.

Northamptonshire vs Yorkshire, Northampton

Yorkshire 158 (Hill 71; Keogh 2-8) and 217 (Brook 113*; Kerrigan 5-39) beat Northamptonshire 170 (Vasconcelos 55; Bess 7-43) and 152 (Procter 42*; Olivier 3-34) by 53 runs.

A century from Harry Brook propelled Yorkshire to 217 in their second innings. Brook made 113 not out, but the rest of the batters succumbed without much fight. Simon Kerrigan claimed five wickets and Ben Sanderson three.

Needing 205 runs to win, Northamptonshire lost five wickets for just 43 runs. Luke Procter and Tom Taylor resisted until the latter was pinned on the leg by Ben Coad. It did not take time for Yorkshire to wrap up the proceedings and secure a 53-run victory.
