Here’s how the points tables are stacked up after nine rounds in the 2021 County Championship.

Group 1

Nottinghamshire defeated Derbyshire by an innings and 36 runs to maintain their lead at the top of the points table. Warwickshire had to share points with Durham after no result was possible due to persistent rain. With 131 points in their bag, Warwickshire are placed second. Durham is at No. 3. Derbyshire languish at the bottom after failing to win even a single game in nine attempts.

Group 2

Somerset and Leicestershire were engaged in a high-scoring draw. Somerset declared at 461/9. In reply, Leicestershire rode on a century from Harry Swindells to post 475/7. Somerset are table-toppers, while Leicestershire are in the fifth position.

Hashim Amla’s heroics on Day 4 salvaged a draw for Surrey against Hampshire. With 112 points in 9 games, Surrey are positioned at fourth, just above Hampshire.

Group 3

Yorkshire registered their fifth win of the season after defeating Northamptonshire by 53 runs. They have lost only once so far, and sit at the top of the points table. Kent did well to salvage a draw against Lancashire after being blown away by James Anderson in the first innings. They are at fifth. Lancashire, meanwhile, have maintained their second position in the table.
