County Championship 2021: Points Table after 9 September

Division 3

Middlesex beat Sussex by an innings and 54 runs in the Division 3 clash of the County Championship 2021. Luke Hollman claimed five wickets as Sussex were all out for 303 in the second innings. Tom Haines held the fort at one end, but wickets kept tumbling at the other. Ben Brown was undone for 10, Sean Hunt walked back without opening his account, and Danial Ibrahim scored 15.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice (67) offered some resistance, forging an 81-run stand with Haines before the latter got out on 87.

This was the second successive victory for Middlesex, and they are at the top of the table. Sussex have lost both matches they have played so far, and they are at fifth place.

Division 2

With two wins in two games, Essex is the numero uno team in Division 2. They beat Gloucestershire by an innings and three runs in the last match. Northamptonshire defeated Surrey by two wickets, and they are just behind Essex.

At third place are Gloucestershire, with a win and a defeat in the first two games. Glamorgan is placed at the bottom, having lost both matches they have played so far. They lost by an innings and 42 runs to Durham.

Division 1

Nottinghamshire defeated Lancashire by 102 runs to register their second victory in the competition. They sit at the top of the table, followed by Yorkshire, who tasted their first victory of the season, with an innings and 33 runs win over Somerset. Lancashire, Hampshire and Somerset are three teams from Division 1 yet to taste victory.
