Division 1

Yorkshire v Somerset, Scarborough

Somerset 134 (Hildreth 24; Fisher 5-41) and 141 (Green 32; Fisher 4-23) lost to Yorkshire 308 (Brook 118; De Lange 4-55) by an innings and 33 runs.

Yorkshire beat Somerset by an innings and 33 runs inside two days. Harry Brook’s 118 and Jordan Thompson’s 57 took Yorkshire from their overnight 159/5 to 308 to secure a 174-run lead.

Matthew Fisher (4-23) then picked up three wickets in seven balls to reduce Somerset to 18/5. Ben Green and Jack Leach made 32 and 26 respectively, but it was still not enough to get past the first-innings lead. They were bowled out for 141.

Nottinghamshire v Lancashire, Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire 272 (Northeast 65; Bailey 4-48) and 127/5 (Duckett 44, Balderson 2-29) lead Lancashire 168 (Bohannon 35; Hutton 5-62) by 231 runs.

Brett Hutton returned 5-62 to help Nottinghamshire gain upper hand against Lancashire after Day 2 at Trent Bridge. He was ably assisted by Dane Paterson as they wrap Lancashire up for 168 after they resumed the day from their overnight 28/2.

Notts then reached 127/5 at stumps. They lead by 231 runs.

Warwickshire v Hampshire, Edgbaston

Hampshire 89 (Holland 28; Rhodes 5-23) and 260-8 ( arker 49*; Norwell 4-64) lead Warwickshire 116 (Hain 41; Abbas 5-29) by 233 runs.

Keith Barker’s unbeaten 49 helped Hampshire to finish their second innings on 260/8 after Day 2 against Warwickshire.

Warwickshire resumed the day on 41/0, but slipped to 173/7 at one point. James Vince (48) and Barker revived them and extended the lead to 233 before the close of play.

Division 2

Durham v Glamorgan, Chester-le-Street

Glamorgan 97 (Rutherford 43; Coughlin 4-11) and 71/2 (Rutherford 32*; Coughlin 1-5) trail Durham 503/8 decl. (Jones 81; Hogan 3-80) by 335 runs.

Durham rattled up 503/8 before declaring on Day 2 against Glamorgan at Chester-le-Street, thanks to Ben Raine’s 74, and fifties from Ned Eckersley and Liam Trevaskis.

Glamorgan batted 24 overs and reached 71/2 at stumps. They are still 335 runs behind.

Essex v Gloucestershire, Chelmsford

Gloucestershire 76 (Higgins 25; Porter 4-32) and 132/5 (Bracey 50; Harmer 2-38) trail Essex 276 (Walter 96; Payne 3-71) by 68 runs.

Paul Walter struck 15 fours in his 241-ball innings but fell four short of a hundred. Essex rode on that and reached 276 before they were bowled out. David Payne and Zafar Gohar claimed three wickets each.

Gloucestershire closed on 132/5. They need another 68 to make Essex bat again.

Northamptonshire v Surrey, Northampton

Surrey 252 (Smith 123; Taylor 5-41) and 102/4 (Amla 26*; Procter 2-34) lead Northamptonshire 171 (Zaib 37; Clarke 3-34) by 183 runs.

Surrey’s Rikki Clarke returned 3-43 to bowl out Northamptonshire for 171 on Day 2 in Northampton. Saif Zaib top-scored in this total, with 37.

In reply, Surrey were 75/4 at one point. Hashim Amla and Will Jacks revived them from there, and added an unbroken 27 before the close of play to extend the lead to 183.

Division 3

Derbyshire v Leicestershire, Derby

Leicestershire 528 (Hill 113; Aitchison 3-71) lead Derbyshire 41/3 (Wood 13; Davis 2-16) by 487 runs.

Lewis Hill’s 113 and Chris Wright’s career-best 87 helped Leicestershire pile 528 on Day 2 against Derbyshire. Ben Aitchison, Matt Critchley and Alex Thomson took three wickets each.

Derbyshire replied with 41/3. Will Davis did the most damage for Leicestershire so far, with 2-16.

Kent v Worcestershire, Canterbury

Worcestershire 133 (Cox 41*; Gilchrist 5-38) and 91/6 (Haynes 26; Stewart 2-14) trail Kent 393 (Leaning 97; Pennington 4-80) by 169 runs.

Kent made 393 in their first innings against Worcestershire as Jack Leaning, Darren Stevens, Oliver Robinson, and Sam Billings chipped in useful contributions. Dillon Pennington returned 4-80, and Josh Baker 3-76.

Worcestershire were 91/6 at the end of the day. They have to score another 169 to avoid an innings defeat.

Sussex v Middlesex, Hove

Middlesex 400/2 (Robson 192*; Crocombe 1-64) vs Sussex

A record 376-run opening-wicket stand between Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman helped Middlesex reach 400/2 after Day 1 against Sussex. While Stoneman fell for 174, Robson is still at the crease, with 192 not out.

The previous highest opening wicket stand was 372, held by Mike Gatting and Justin Langer, which came against Essex in 1998 at Southgate.
