Saint Lucia Kings defeated Trinbago Knight Riders by 21 runs to become the first finalist of the Caribbean Premier League 2021. Mark Deyal scored a scintillating half-century before David Wiese claimed a five-for to restrict the Knight Riders to 184/10 in 19.3 overs.

Andre Fletcher was leading the Kings in the absence of Faf du Plessis. Fletcher called the toss correctly and opted to bat first. Akeal Hosein got the better of Rahkeem Cornwall on the fourth ball of the innings. Cornwall's dismissal brought Mark Deyal to the crease.

Deyal didn't take time to get going. He smashed three fours and a six off Ravi Rampaul in the next over. Deyal welcomed Ali Khan with a six over deep square leg, and followed with a four to complete the 50-run partnership with Fletcher for the second wicket.

Fletcher, however, struggled to time his shots, and played 14 balls for 4 runs before getting out to Rampaul. Deyal kept going, and forged another important partnership with Roston Chase. The duo added 54 runs in the next six overs before Deyal was undone by Sunil Narine on 78. Chase's contribution was worth 36 runs.

Wiese and Tim David kept things going, as they added an unbeaten 75 runs in just over five overs for the fifth wicket. Wiese made 34 off 21 deliveries, and David scored 38 off 17.

Despite losing Lendl Simmons in the first over, the Knight Riders got off to a rollicking start, thanks to a 71-run partnership between Sunil Narine and Colin Munro. Narine slammed 30 off 17, while Munro's 28 came in 23 balls. Wiese struck twice in the eighth over and got rid of both Munro and Narine.

The Knight Riders were left reeling at 80/3. Darren Bravo kept the chase going with his 16-ball 25. Kieron Pollard slammed three sixes for his 13-ball 26 before falling prey to Wiese. In the end, they were skittled out for 184. Wiese (4-0-39-5) was the pick of the bowlers.
