Kennar Lewis’s career-best 89, off 53 balls, propelled Jamaica Tallawahs to a thumping six-wicket win over Barbados Royals in Match 10 of the Caribbean Premier League 2021 at Warner Park in St Kitts.

Earlier, Barbados were reduced to 30/4 after Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat. Fidel Edwards (2-32) and Migael Pretorius (4-45) claimed all four wickets between them inside the Powerplay.

Azam Khan and Glenn Phillips steadied the ship from there. They added 71 for the fifth wicket to take Barbados past 100 before Pretorius returned in the 14th over and got Phillips (31 in 29 balls). Azam, after bringing up his fifty, departed in the next over. Barbados were 105/6 in 14.3 overs.

Raymon Reifer, who was Player of the Match in their last match for his all-round contributions, made little impact with bat (11 in 12) this time. Joshua Bishop played a breezy cameo (18* in 8) to help Barbados finish on 151/8.

Coming to defend, Bishop, on his first CPL outing this season, sparkled with the ball (4-1-20-3) as well. He took the first three wickets of Jamaica – Chadwick Walton (4), Haider Ali (1), and Rovman Powell (3) – to leave them reeling on 50/3 in 7.5 overs.

Lewis and Shamarh Brooks (47* in 26) held the fort from there. They forged a 93-run fourth-wicket stand in 54 balls before Lewis nicked Holder (1-44) to Shai Hope in the 17th over.

But that was only a consolation wicket for Barbados. Russell (6*) smashed a six off the only ball he faced before Brooks hit the winning four with 14 balls to spare.

Brief Scores: Barbados Royals 151/8 in 20 overs (Azam 50; Pretorius 4-45) Jamaica Tallawahs 155/4 in 17.4 overs (Lewis 89; Bishop 3-20) by six wickets. Player of the Match: Kennar Lewis.
