CPL 2021, Saint Lucia Kings vs Trinbago Knight Riders Preview, fantasy tips, and probable XIs Image

Saint Lucia Kings will take defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the seventh match of CPL 2021 at Warner Park in St Kitts on Sunday, 29 August. The Kings suffered a humiliating defeat in their only game so far, while the Knight Riders won their first game in the second attempt.

Faf du Plessis must have been disappointed with his bowlers after they conceded 255 runs against Jamaica Tallawahs. Most of them were visibly short on match practice. Wahab Riaz conceded 61 runs in three overs, Obed McCoy leaked 52 runs, and others were not much better either.

Chasing 256 always required a herculean effort. Migael Pretorius’ triple-strike in his opening spell took the game away from the Kings. Du Plessis’ return to competitive cricket ended on a sour note, as he got out for a golden duck.

Tim David’s 28-ball 56 was the lone bright spot for the Kings. Wahab, too, contributed with a 29-ball 26 but the match has already slipped out of their hand.

The Knight Riders, on the other hand, will head into this contest off a comfortable six-wicket victory over Barbados Royals. They chased down a target of 123 against Barbados Royals in 16.5 overs. Kieron Pollard starred with an unbeaten 58, and he was assisted by Denesh Ramdin (29).

However, their top order again failed to get going. Lendl Simmons made 5 in each of the first two games. Colin Munro and Tim Seifert have failed to put up substantial scores, putting an extra burden on the lower middle-order.

Isuru Udana looked ineffective in the opening game, but made a great comeback by picking a five-for. Ravi Rampaul and Akeal Hosein bowled economical spells.

Betway Fantasy Tips

  • David’s 56 in the opening clash was a good sign for St Lucia Kings. Pick him, along with du Plessis, in your fantasy team.
  • Among all-rounder, Pollard and one of Roston Chase and Rahkeem Cornwall.
  • Jayden Seales conceded 42 runs in the last game. He could not pose problems in the first game either. Pick Hosein and Rampaul instead.
