3rd ODI: Kusal Perera, Chameera help Sri Lanka avoid whitewash against Bangladesh

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 97 runs in the third and final ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on 28 May. Despite that, Tamim Iqbal’s men have taken the series 2-1.

Skipper Kushal Perera (122-ball 120) and Dhananjaya de Silva (55 not out) helped Sri Lanka to reach 286/6 after opting to bat first. In reply, apart from Mosaddek Hossain (51) and Mahmudullah Riyad (53), Bangladesh batters were never really in the chase.

Dushmantha Chameera returned his career-best figures of 5-16 to bag the Player of the Match award, while Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged Player of the Series after scoring 237 runs in three games.

WTC final will have joint winners if draw or tie: ICC

The ICC has announced India and New Zealand will be named joint winners in case of a draw or a tie in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, starting 18 June in Southampton. There will also be an additional reserve day to make up for any lost time over the regular five days.

However, the decision to extend the Test match to the reserve day will lie solely with the match referee. It will be taken at the start of the final hour on Day 5.

The final will be played with Grade 1 Dukes balls. The match will see the implementation of changes to international playing conditions like short runs review, enhanced height margin for LBW referrals etc.

CPL 2021: Morris joins Tridents; Patriots sign Hasaranga

Chris Morris will make his CPL debut with two-time champions Barbados Tridents for the upcoming season, starting 28 August. Ravi Rampaul, on the other hand, will return to the tournament with Tridents after missing out on four years.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have picked Wanindu Hasaranga. He will play alongside his countrymate Thisara Perera and the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistani trio Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi will not feature in CPL 2021 because of international duties.

Moeen to play in Birmingham League

After the postponement of IPL 2021, Moeen Ali will return to action in Birmingham League. He will play for West Bromwich Dartmouth (WBD) against Walsall on 29 May.

As per a report of cricinfo.com, Moeen has received approval from the ECB to play for WBD after returning to England recently. He has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL.
