Jayant, Saini added to the India squad

The BCCI has added Jayant Yadav and Navdeep Saini to the ODI squad for the series against South Africa. The three-match series begins on 19 January. Jayant came in as a replacement for Washington Sundar, who has tested positive for COVID-19, while Navdeep Saini has been added a back-up for the injured Mohammed Siraj.

New IPL franchises to sign three players before 22 January

The BCCI has directed Lucknow and Ahmedabad IPL franchises to submit their list of three signed players latest by 22 January. Further, the mega auction will go on as scheduled, on 12 and 13 February in Bengaluru.

As per reports, K.L. Rahul is likely to lead the Lucknow franchise, while Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer are both in contention to lead the Ahmedabad franchise.

Australia announce Ashes squad

Australia has announced a 15-member squad for the Women's Ashes Test. There was no place for Amanda-Jade Wellington as they decided to go ahead with Alana King. Jess Jonassen and Megan Schutt returned to the side, while Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux miss out due to injuries.

India ahead by 70 runs at Newlands

India finished Day 2 on 57/2 after bowling out South Africa for 210 in the first innings. Mayank Agarwal and K.L. Rahul fell inside six overs, but Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara saw stretched the lead to 70 by stumps.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah claimed 5-42, and Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami picked two wickets each, to bowl out South Africa for 210 as Keegan Petersen top-scored with 72.
