Deepak Chahar ruled out of IPL 2022

Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League 2022 after sustaining a back injury while undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Chennai Super Kings will sorely miss his absence, as Chahar was supposed to lead their pace attack.

Chahar had picked up 14 wickets in 15 matches last year. Chennai acquired him for INR 14 crore in the 2022 mega auction.

New Zealand, England set to tour Pakistan

Here is the full schedule:

  • Sep-Oct - England Men in Pakistan (7 T20Is)
  • 30 Oct-19 Nov - Ireland Women in Lahore/Karachi (3 ODIs, 3 T20Is)
  • Nov-Dec - England Men in Pakistan (3 Tests)
  • Dec-Jan - New Zealand Men in Pakistan (2 Tests, 3 ODIs)

Joe Root resigns as captain

Joe Root has stepped down as a captain of England's Test side with immediate effect. Root had stepped into this role back in 2017, and has led England on 64 occasions. His winning record of 27 matches is second to no England captain.

'After returning from the Caribbean tour and having time to reflect, I have decided to step down as England Men's Test Captain,' said Root. 'It has been the most challenging decision I have had to make in my career but having discussed this with my family and those closest to me; I know the timing is right.'

Hyderabad beat Kolkata by seven wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders suffered their third defeat of Indian Premier League 2022. They failed to defend 176 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Fifties from Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram guided Hyderabad past Kolkata's total with 13 balls remaining. For Kolkata, Nitish Rana top-scored with 54, while Andre Russell scored a quick 49 before taking two wickets. This was the third victory of the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
