Lucknow Franchise appoint Gambhir as mentor

Gautam Gambhir will join the Lucknow franchise as a mentor for IPL 2022. The franchise, yet to be named, has also signed Andy Flower as head coach and Vijay Dahiya as an assistant coach.

'Thanks a lot to Dr Goenka and the RPSG Group for presenting me this wonderful opportunity in their setup. The fire to win a contest still burns bright inside me, the desire to leave a winner's legacy still kicks me 24x7,' stated Gambhir.

West Indies sack selection committee

After a 0-3 loss in the T20I series in Pakistan, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) has sacked the selection panel led by Roger Harper. The West Indies were also eliminated in the group stage of ICC T20 World Cup. Head coach Phil Simmons will head the interim panel, which will also consist of the ODI, T20I and Test captains. West Indies are set to host Ireland next year in January for three ODIs and a one-off T20I.

KL Rahul named as Test vice-captain

The BCCI has named KL Rahul as vice-captain for the Test series in South Africa. The first Test will begin on 26 December. Earlier, the board replaced Ajinkya Rahane with Rohit Sharma as vice-captain, but the latter's hamstring injury ruled him out of the series. Rahul missed the home Test series against New Zealand due to an injury.

Australia on top in Adelaide

Australia strengthened their grip in the second Test. After securing a 237-run lead in the first innings, they finished Day 3 on 45/1 and now lead by 282. They have lost only wicket David Warner, who was run out on 13.

Earlier, England were bowled out for 236. Joe Root and Dawid Malan added 138 runs for the third wicket, but there was little resistance after them. Mitchell Starc (4-37) was the pick of the bowlers, while Nathan Lyon claimed three wickets.
