Absolutely No Regrets About The Book Launch: Shastri

India Men’s head coach Ravi Shastri, who will step down after the upcoming T20 World Cup, told The Guardian that he has ‘absolutely no regrets’ for attending his book launch in England.

'They tried to make it that way (make a scapegoat) but I wasn't worried because incubation probably takes weeks. There were about 250 people there (for the book launch function) and no one got Covid from that party. I've not got it at my book launch because it was on the 31st (August) and I tested positive on 3 September. It can't happen in three days. I think I got it in Leeds. England opened up on 19 July and suddenly the hotels were back, lifts were back. No restrictions,' Shastri further added.

Shastri tested positive on the third day of the fourth Test between England and India at The Oval. India’s bowling coach Bharath Arun and fielding coach R. Sridhar, deemed as close contacts, and went to isolation after that. They later tested positive, and all of them finished their 10-day isolation on 15 September.

Then, the fifth and the final Test at Old Trafford got cancelled after India’s junior physio Yogesh Parmar also tested positive for the virus.

Banton pulls out of upcoming BBL

Tom Banton has pulled out of the upcoming season of the Big Bash League because of concerns over hotel quarantine and bio-bubble measures in Australia. Banton had missed BBL last season due to similar concerns.

‘It was a difficult decision but one that I know was the right one for me given the situation,’ Banton was quoted saying in a release issued by Brisbane Heat on 18 September.

Banton played seven games in the ninth edition of the BBL for the Brisbane Heat. He aggregated 223 runs at a strike rate of 176.98, including three fifties before signing a two-year contract.
