India beat New Zealand by seven wickets, clinch series

India beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the second T20I in Ranchi to clinch the three-match series. They restricted New Zealand to 153/6 and reached the target with 16 balls to spare.

Martin Guptill and Glenn Phillips played aggressively, but the rest struggled to get going against the Indian bowling unit, led by R. Ashwin. Debutant Harshal Patel ended with 2-25. 

Coming to chase, K.L. Rahul and Rohit Sharma added 117 in 80 balls for the opening wicket to set the tone. Rishabh Pant then got the job done with two successive sixes in the 18th over.Tim Southee was the pick of the New Zealand bowler, with 3-16.

Paine resigns as Australia Test captain following sexting scandal

Tim Paine stepped down as Australia Test captain ahead of the Ashes over a historical investigation into sexually explicit texts. Paine admitted to sending messages to a female co-worker at Cricket Tasmania in 2017, leading to a misconduct investigation after she made allegations against him in 2018.

Paine added he was ‘exonerated’, and that he made the decision after knowing his texts were set to be revealed publicly.

Cricket Australia accepted Paine's resignation, and will appoint a new Test captain soon. However, Paine will remain in the side for the Ashes, starting 8 December.

De Villiers retires from all cricket

AB de Villiers announced retirement from all forms of cricket. He had retired from international cricket in 2018, but continued playing in T20 leagues around the world. He last played in October, for the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, the side he represented for 10 years.

Since making his South Africa debut in 2004, against England, de Villiers played 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is. He also captained South Africa in 103 ODIs, between 2012 and 2017.

Pakistan beat Bangladesh in 1st T20I, take 1-0 lead

Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz added an unbroken 36 in 15 balls to help Pakistan chase 128 with four balls to spare in the first T20I of the three-match series in Dhaka. Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah also chipped in with 34 apiece. Taskin Ahmed returned 2-31 and Mahedi Hasan 1-17.

Before that, Hasan Ali (3-22) ran through Bangladesh batters to restrict them to 127/7. Afif Hossain top-scored for Bangladesh with a 34-ball 36, while Mahedi remained unbeaten on 20-ball 30.
