ICC appoint Wasim Khan as General Manager of Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Wasim Khan as the General Manager of Cricket. Wasim will succeed Geoff Allardice next month. He has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

'I am honoured to be joining the ICC. I can't wait to get started and work in partnership with our Members to strengthen and grow our sport. I'm particularly excited by the ICC's commitment to the growth of the women's game, and I look forward to playing my part in really accelerating that growth over the next decade,' said Wasim.

Alan Crompton dies aged 81

Alan Crompton, former chair of Cricket Australia, has passed away aged 81. Crompton was also the chair of New South Wales, and served as team manager of the Australia men's team on three overseas tours. 

'Everyone at Cricket Australia who worked with Alan and all those who have benefitted from his service to cricket will be deeply saddened by his passing,' said CA chairperson Lachlan Henderson. 

Mohammad Amir signs up with Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire roped in Mohammad Amir for the next three matches of the County Championship as a replacement for the injured Naseem Shah. However, they will have Amir for the T20 Blast 2022. 

'The County Championship is an amazing competition and I can't wait to get going with Gloucestershire,' said Amir. 'I love playing in English conditions and I'm feeling really good, so I hope I can perform well for the team.'

Afridi takes four on Middlesex debut

Shaheen Shah Afridi marked his arrival in County Championship with a three-wicket haul in the first innings against Glamorgan in Cardiff. He got Marnus Labuschagne and Sam Northeast in consecutive balls, and pinned Kiran Karlson leg-before when the latter tried to flick towards mid wicket. In the second innings, Afridi once again got Labuschagne.
