Harbhajan announces retirement from all cricket

Harbhajan Singh announced retirement from all forms of cricket on 24 December. He picked up 417 wickets in 103 Tests (the fourth-most among Indians, after Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, and R. Ashwin), 269 wickets in 236 ODIs and 25 wickets in 28 T20Is in his 23-year career.

Harbhajan also played 163 IPL matches and claimed 150 wickets. His best IPL season came in 2013 when he took 24 wickets at an average of 19 for Mumbai Indians. He played 198 First-class matches, mostly for Punjab, taking 780 wickets.

Bangladesh appoint Siddons as batting consultant

Bangladesh appointed Jamie Siddons as their batting consultant for the next two years. BCB president Nazmul Hassan confirmed the appointment to Cricbuzz and also said he will work with local cricketers if requires: ‘Hopefully in February he will arrive (and then) we'll fix where he will work. If we feel he is needed in High Performance then he will work in that role. And if we feel if he is required in Under-19 setup, then he will work there or if he's required in the senior national team then he will be deployed there’.

Siddons has previously worked as Bangladesh head coach from October 2007 to April 2011.

Shadab signs with Sydney Sixers for remainder BBL 2021/22

Sydney Sixers signed Shadab Khan for the remainder of BBL 2021/22. He becomes the fifth Pakistani to play the BBL this season, after Haris Rauf, Syed Faridoun, Ahmad Daniyal and Muhammad Hasnain.

‘We welcome Shadab's skills in all three facets of the game and can't wait to see him get an opportunity in coming matches,’ said Sixers head coach Greg Shipperd.

Shadab has 197 wickets from 175 T20s so far at an economy of 7.18.

Ireland beat the USA, draw T20I series

Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher helped Ireland beat the United States of America by nine runs in the second match. With the win, they drew their two-match series in Florida 1-1.

Ireland were all out for 150 in 18.5 overs. of which courtesy Tucker slammed a 56-ball 84. Campher (4-25) then helped restrict the USA to 141/7, with Mark Adair (1-25) and Barry McCarthy (0-24) also bowling economically.
