Mumbai Indians sign Kumar Kartikeya

Mumbai Indians have signed Kumar Kartikeya as replacement for the injured Arshad Khan for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2022. Kartikeya had impressed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22, where he took five wickets in as many games. He joined at the base price of INR 20 lakh.

Mumbai have lost all eight games they have played so far. 

Sri Lanka appoint Anton Roux as fielding coach

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Anton Roux as their fielding coach. Before this job, Roux had been working as an assistant fielding coach of Nottinghamshire, and has also worked for the Netherlands men's senior team.

Jehan Mubarak was appointed as the head coach of the Under-19 team, and Ruwan Kalpage in a similar capacity for the Emerging team.

Ben Stokes set to lead England in the Test

Ben Stokes has been named England's new Test captain following Joe Root's resignation last month. Stokes has captained England once when Joe Root was on paternity leave. 

'I want to thank Joe for everything he has done for English cricket and for always being a great ambassador for the sport all across the world. He has been a massive part of my development as a leader in the dressing room, and he will continue to be a key ally for me in this role,' said Stokes.

Australia's tour of Sri Lanka to go ahead as planned

Despite the ongoing crisis in the nation, Australia's tour of Sri Lanka in June will go on as per the plans. Australia are supposed to play three T20Is, five ODIs, and two Test matches. Colombo and Kandy will host the white-ball games, while the Tests will be played in Galle. Cricket Australia (CA) will confirm the squad on Friday.
