Afghanistan appoint Graham Thorpe head coach
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced Graham Thorpe as the head coach of their men's senior team. Thorpe will succeed Stuart Law, who has decided not to renew his contract.
Thorpe recently stepped down as England's batting coach after a disastrous Ashes tour. His first assignment as coach of Afghanistan will be a tour to Ireland, where the team will play three ODIs, a Test match, and three T20Is.
BCCI release IPL media rights tender
The media rights tender for the Indian Premier League for the next five years has been released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The broadcasters will have to pay INR 25 lakhs for Invitation To Tender (ITT) document, and the auction will be done online.
'I've no doubts that with this process there will not only be revenue maximisation but also value maximisation, which will benefit India Cricket immensely,' said BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
Ashton Agar tests positive for COVID-19
Ashton Agar tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the opening ODI in Pakistan. A day earlier, Josh Inglis had contracted the Coronavirus. Australia now have only 13 cricketers to choose from. In Lahore, Travis Head opened batting with Aaron Finch, while Swepson and Nathan Ellis made their ODI debuts.
Australia beat Pakistan by 88 runs, largely due Head's 101 and Adam Zampa's 4-38.
Rajasthan beat Hyderabad by 61 runs
Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs to start their Indian Premier League 2022 journey on a winning note. They set a target of 211 and restricted the Sunrisers to 147. Yuzvendra Chahal (3-22) was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers.
Earlier, Sanju Samson top-scored with 55, Devdutt Padikkal scored 41, and Shimron Hetmyer slammed a 13-ball 32. For the Sunrisers, Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 57.
