Cairns diagnosed with bowel cancer

Six months after being left paralysed by a stroke, Chris Cairns has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. He was discharged from hospital last week after suffering a stroke during heart surgery in last August.

‘Big shock and not what I was expecting after what was supposed to be a routine check-up,’ Cairns said on Instagram.

Cairns played 62 Tests, 215 ODIs, and 2 T20Is for New Zealand between 1989 and 2006. He later became a television pundit.

Langer resigns as Australia head coach

Justin Langer resigned as head coach of Australia Men. Cricket Australia confirmed that Langer, whose contract was due to expire in June, rejected a short-term extension.

Langer had replaced Darren Lehmann in 2018 following the Australia ball-tampering scandal. In the past three months, he won the T20 World Cup and retained the Ashes.

‘As a player Justin retired on top after a 5-0 Ashes whitewash. Today, despite the views of a faceless few, he finishes his time as Australian cricket coach winning the T20 World Cup and the Ashes. Lest we forget what JL took over in 2018,’ tweeted Langer's manager James Henderson.

Ishan, Shahrukh added to India squad for 1st ODI against West Indies

India have added Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan to their squad for the first ODI against West Indies. ‘The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Ishan Kishan and Shahrukh Khan to India's squad for the first ODI against the West Indies to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday,’ BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a media release.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma confirmed that Kishan would open the batting with him in the first ODI: ‘Ishan Kishan is the only option we have and he will open with me. Mayank [Agarwal] was added to the squad and he is still in isolation.’

Taskin to miss rest of BPL

Taskin Ahmed will miss the rest of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2022 due to the recurrence of a back injury. An MRI revealed his pain is due to a previous injury, and he needs to be rested ahead of Bangladesh’s series against Afghanistan.

Taskin played four matches so far in the 2022 BPL, claiming five wickets at an economy of 8.92.
