India go 1-0 up against West Indies in ODIs

Yuzvendra Chahal's 4-49, Washington Sundar's 3-30 and Rohit Sharma's 51-ball 60 helped India win the ODI series opener against the West Indies by six wickets in Ahmedabad. They bowled out West Indies for 176 in 43.5 overs and reached the target in 28 overs.

There was a minor scare when India slipped from 84/0 to 116/4 in the space of five overs, but Suryakumar Yadav (34*) and debutant Deepak Hooda (26*) added an unbroken 62 for the fifth wicket to end India’s 1,000th ODI on a winning note.

Australia women win Ashes 2022/23

Australia won the women’s Ashes 2022/23 with a match to spare with a five-wicket win against England in the second ODI, in Melbourne. From 40/1 after 10 overs, England lost six wickets for 28 runs, and were subsequently bundled out for 129 in 45.2 overs. Had Amy Jones (28) and Sophie Ecclestone (32*) not added 40 for the eighth wicket, they would not even have reached the three-digit mark.

Australia then rode on Ellyse Perry’s 64-ball 40 and Ash Gardner’s unbeaten 34-ball 31 to seal the win in 35.2 overs.

South Africa win series against West Indies

Shabnim Ismail’s 4-44 and an 88-run stand between Andrie Steyn (52) and Sune Luus (47) helped South Africa to a series win against the West Indies in the decider at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Opting to bat, West Indies lost their last nine wickets for 90 runs to get bowled out for 174 in 49.2 overs. After Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits fell for 20s, Luus and Steyn joined hands to help South Africa reach the target in 39.5 overs, with six wickets in hand.

Collingwood likely to be named interim England head coach: Report

As per Daily Mail, Paul Collingwood is likely to be appointed interim England head coach for their upcoming three-match Test series against West Indies, starting 8 March at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.

‘Collingwood's upgrade from an assistant coach would avoid a complete overhaul of the current coaching staff and allow interim managing director Andrew Strauss some breathing space to focus on identifying personnel and refining the set-up for the home international season,’ the report read.

Collingwood did not return to England after their 2-3 T20I series defeat in the West Indies. He is vacationing in Barbados with his three daughters.
