Sri Lanka appoint Chris Silverwood as head coach
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have appointed Chris Silverwood as the head coach of their men's senior team. Silverwood will succeed Rumesh Ratnayake, who has been serving in this role on an interim basis. His first assignment will be the upcoming Test series versus Bangladesh.
'I am very excited to be on board with Sri Lanka and I cannot wait to get over to Colombo and get started. They have a talented and passionate group of players and I am really looking forward to meeting up with the players and coaching staff very soon,' said Silverwood.
Afghanistan players to get residency visa for UAE
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have decided to apply for residency visas for players and support staff for their upcoming tour to the UAE. They will host different nations in the UAE before embarking on a tour to the UK for a series against Ireland.
'Afghanistan Cricket Board often hosts other countries in the UAE, so it is necessary that a number of officials and players must obtain UAE residency and/or residence permits,' ACB said in a statement.
Bangalore beat Mumbai by seven wickets
Mumbai Indians suffered their fourth successive defeat in IPL 2022. They failed to defend 152 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Suryakumar Yadav registered his second successive fifty, 37-ball 68, to propel Mumbai to 151/6. Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel claimed two wickets each. For Bangalore, Anuj Rawat top-scored with 66, and Virat Kohli made 48 off 36.
Sunrisers Hyderabad win their first game of IPL 2022
Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first victory of the IPL 2022. They chased 155 in 17.4 overs against Chennai Super Kings.
Abhishek Sharma scored 75 in 50 balls, while Rahul Tripathi made a quick unbeaten 35. Earlier in the game, the Chennai openers failed to provide them with a great start, as both Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad fell inside the Powerplay. Moeen Ali then scored 48 in 35 balls to drive Chennai to 154/7.
