In what comes as a great relief for the BCCI, the CWI has finally acquiesced to advance CPL 2021 by a week to vacate a window for the UAE leg of IPL 2021. This will allow players engaged in the CPL to leave to the UAE and join their respective franchises for the IPL.

Earlier, the 2021 edition of the IPL was suspended midway after a spate of Covid-19 cases among players and support staffs. The organisers decided to complete the rest of the tournament in the UAE. Although they are yet to announce the complete fixtures, it is likely to commence from 19 September.

The CPL, scheduled to start from 28 August, has been preponed for three days and the final will take place on 15 September. Overall, 33 games will be played in St Kitts and Nevis, a country already marked Covid-19-free. This will allow the Caribbean players the requisite time to join their respective teams.

The Indian contingent, currently in England, will depart directly for the UAE in a bubble-to-bubble transfer.
