No DRS in Pakistan-New Zealand ODI series

Due to unavailability of DRS, the forthcoming ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand will not be part of the ICC World Cup Super League but as just another bilateral series. Pakistan were unable to find an ICC-approved technology provider for the series.

Rawalpindi will host all three ODIs, starting from 17 September. The five T20Is will be played in Lahore from 25 September.

Malan pulls out, Punjab name Markram as replacement

Dawid Malan has withdrawn his name from the UAE leg of the 2021 IPL. Malan played one game for Punjab Kings in the first half of the season. Punjab have acquired Aiden Markram as a replacement.

Markram is with the South Africa contingent in Sri Lanka. He scored a 33-ball 48 in the opening T20I to drive his team to a 28-run win. Predominantly an opening batter, he is adept enough to bat at any position.

Markram is likely to depart to the UAE, along with Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga, after the series. Punjab Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals, on 21 September, to kick start their second half of the season.

Rutherford replaces Bairstow for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Jonny Bairstow also pulled out his name from the second half of the IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad have named Sherfane Rutherford as replacement. Rutherford played seven games for Mumbai Indians in 2019.

Rutherford is in terrific form in the ongoing CPL 2021 for for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. He has amassed 202 runs in seven matches.

The inclusion of Rutherford will bolster the Sunrisers middle order. David Warner is likely to regain his place at the top in Bairstow’s absence, and it remains to be seen who opens the innings alongside him.
