Chennai kickstart the UAE leg of IPL with a win

Chennai Super Kings outmuscled arch rivals Mumbai Indians in the opening game of the 'second half' of the Indian Premier League 2021. They posted 156/6 in 20 overs and restricted Mumbai on 136/8.

Ruturaj Gaikwad pulled the Super Kings out of trouble after they ended up losing four wickets for just 24 runs. Gaikwad, along with Ravindra Jadeja, added 81 runs for the fifth wicket. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 88.

The Mumbai, devoid of the regular skipper Rohit Sharma, lost their top-three inside the Powerplay. Saurabh Tiwary's 50 took 40 balls, and the sluggish note of his innings never seemed to threaten Chennai.
