Du Plessis to lead Bangla Tigers in Abu Dhabi T10 league

Faf du Plessis has been appointed captain for the Bangla Tigers for the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. He will replace Andre Fletcher. The league starts 19 November, and the final will be played on 2 December.

The T10 League features prominent cricketers like Nicholas Pooran, Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir. Du Plessis will be playing T10s for the first time. The league has been granted official status by the International Cricket Council.

Du Plessis is now leading the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League. Before that, during the PSL, he crashed into a colleague while fielding for Quetta Gladiators, suffered a terrible head injury, concussed, and missed cricket for two months.

Whatmore stands down as Nepal’s head coach

Dav Whatmore has decided to step down from his role as head coach for Nepal. Their next month’s tour to Oman for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 will be his last assignment. Whatmore joined Nepal Men last year in December.

Whatmore’s illustrious coaching career spans across three decades. He won the ICC World Cup with Sri Lanka in 1996. Following that, he has coached several teams, including Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

England wins at Headingley to make it 1-1

England beat India by an innings and 76 runs at Headingley to level the Test series 1-1. Their fast bowlers wrapped up things within 20 overs on Day 4. India were skittled out for 278. Ollie Robinson claimed five wickets and Craig Overton three.

Cheteshwar Pujara (91) could not add anything to his overnight tally, and Virat Kohli got out soon after completing his fifty. Both were undone by Robinson. Ajinkya Rahane then became the first victim of James Anderson.

Ravindra Jadeja played some shots in the end, but the match had already slipped away from the hosts by then. Robinson was adjudged Player of the Match.

Finn signs for Sussex

Steven Finn will leave his boyhood club Middlesex after this season. He has signed a multi-year contract for Sussex. Finn spent almost 17 years of his career at Sussex. He played 261 games for them, and took 394 First-class, 77 List A, and 116 T20 wickets.

Sussex acquired Finn as replacement for Chris Jordan, who has decided to join Surrey for the next season.

‘I am looking forward to the opportunity to play for Sussex from the 2022 season onwards. It is a club that I have always admired and found to be challenging opponents,’ Finn said.
