England announce squad for Oval Test

England included Chris Woakes and Mark Wood in their 15-man squad for the fourth Test match, starting 2 September. Jos Buttler is unavailable as his wife expecting their second child. Jonny Bairstow will be the wicketkeeper, while Sam Billings has been included as his reserve. Ollie Pope is also back in the side.

Woakes proved his fitness during a T20 Blast match for Warwickshire earlier this week. Wood, still under supervision, has bowled without any discomfort in a practice match.

England's squad for the fourth Test: Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Sam Billings, Rory Burns, Sam Curran, Haseeb Hameed, Dan Lawrence, Dawid Malan, Craig Overton, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

Abbas to join Hampshire for County Championship

Mohammad Abbas will reunite with his Hampshire teammates for the final leg of the County Championship. Abbas recently featured for Pakistan on their tour to West Indies. He played both matches, and bagged six wickets.

However, Abbas will be unable to start the game against Yorkshire, which gets underway on 30 August, as he will have to undergo a self-isolation period. However, he will be available for the remaining matches of the season.

Abbas picked up 27 wickets in 15 games for the club. Hampshire finished second, behind Somerset, in their group.

Knee scan for Jadeja

On Saturday, 28 August, Ravindra Jadeja was taken for a scan after he injured his knee while fielding on Day 1 of the third Test. It was not a serious injury, as Jadeja batted and bowled throughout the course of the match. However, the BCCI did not want to take risks.

Jadeja scored 30 in the second innings and took two wickets. India lost the game by an innings and 76 runs.

Chameera, Hasaranga get NOC for IPL

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), in consultation with the Technical Advisory Committee, granted a No Objection Certificate to Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2021.

They will join the RCB only after the conclusion of the T20I series against South Africa, and will have to report to SLC by 10 October, to play warm-up games ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
