Defeating West Indies in T20I series is a big achievement for India: Manjrekar Image

Rohit Sharma's team overcoming West Indies in their own backyard was no small feat, according to former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who also stated the visitors should be pleased of their accomplishments in the Caribbean.

After sweeping the three-match ODI series, India recently trounced West Indies 4-1 in the T20I series.

"Let's show the West Indies some respect. They are enjoyable company for hanging out and similar activities. You know what's really good to see, right? That the West Indies and T20 cricket aren't underdogs or snoozers. India should be happy of their victory and the manner in which they have won the five T20 matches "On the programme "Sports Over the Top" on Sports18, Manjrekar stated.

The former cricketer-turned-commentator also praised India's innovations during the T20I series, saying they were wonderful for the future because they worked perfectly.

"In the first three Twenty20 matches, India didn't play a single wrist spinner, but in the final two matches, they used two wrist spinners. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are the openers. So far, everything they've attempted has succeeded. So, this is a fantastic scenario to be in, and India should not take any credit for these victories away from them because, as you'll see in the T20 World Cup, West Indies will play well against the other countries. So congratulations to India! "Manjrekar was added.

Manjrekar also discussed the fight between Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan for a spot in the Australian T20 World Cup team.

"There's actually a fantastic race going on to grab that business class seat on that aircraft to Australia. You are aware that these men fly business class. I say that rather reluctantly because we used to be in an economic downturn. So, there is a competition to secure those business class seats to Australia. And at that point, I believe it is safe to state that Arshdeep Singh has surpassed Avesh Khan. It's quite intriguing that Avesh Khan is lagging behind a little bit.

"You are aware that there is a legitimate sporting contest going on. The fact that Arshdeep Singh is performing Avesh Khan's job—following the new ball in the middle and at the death—has given him a slight advantage over the latter."
