England announce 15-member squad for fourth Test Image

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed a 15-member squad for the fourth Test, on Sunday (29 August). Chris Woakes has completely recovered from the heel injury, and is named in the squad. Sam Billings has been roped in as replacement for Jos Buttler, whose wife is expecting the second child with them this week.

‘It is very pleasing that we have Chris Woakes returning to the Test squad. He has bowled well over the past week with Warwickshire without any real concerns with his heel injury,’ said the head coach Chris Silverwood.

Jonny Bairstow will don the wicketkeeping gloves at The Oval. One between Ollie Pope and Dan Lawrence is likely come in place for Buttler.

Saqib Mahmood will leave the Test camp to join Lancashire for the ongoing T20 Blast. Mark Wood is recovering well, and he is likely to play the fourth game, confirmed Silverwood.

The third Test starts on 2 September. England have levelled the series with a terrific an innings and 76 runs victory over India at Headingley.
