The Oval Test has moved ahead at rapid pace. The third innings has already commenced by Day 2. The wicket, meanwhile, does not seem that extreme from outside. In fact, these are probably the best batting-friendly conditions the teams have faced so far in this Test series, and England will be a bit disappointed at not having gained a bigger lead. Even then, reaching 290 was an achievement, especially from 62/5.

India, after conceding a lead of 99, batted cautiously to reach 43 for no loss in 16 overs at stumps. It will be important for both Rohit Sharma and K.L. Rahul to continue their good work and at least play out the first session on Saturday. The first hour of the day has proved to be the most difficult period for batters on both days. Once they survive that, the conditions eases out significantly and there are plenty of runs on offer.

Though almost half the deficit has been eaten away, India are not out of the woods as yet. As BBC Weather suggests, it is going to be a cloudy in London for the most part of Day 3 and the England seamers will enjoy bowling on those conditions.

Hence, Day 3 of this Test can define the series. If India bat well, they can find themselves in a position of comfort by posting a target of 250, whereas a few early wickets may help England march towards a 2-1 series lead.

Betway fantasy tips

– Chris Woakes has looked the most threatening English bowler in this Test match. He has consistently hit the right length, troubling the Indian batters, most of whom have been reluctant to play on the back foot. Back him to be more effective under the cloudy sky on Saturday.

– Virat Kohli has scored consecutive half centuries, a good sign for the Indian team. Expect him to score some useful runs again.

– India should get the lead well before lunch. However, they may lose a couple of wickets in the process.
